Meet Katie!

Tell us a little bit about your background before joining The Key team.
I worked as a hybrid media relations / content strategist at another SF agency before joining The Key. It was my first real "office job." I moved to SF in 2011 to train at a dance conservatory and have been dancing professionally for the last 4 years. I dropped out of Northwestern to make the move and ended up finishing my degree at USF - supported by 2 amazing parents, teaching gigs, and a variety of service industry jobs. I also wrote for a few dance blogs. PR was an accident but I've always loved writing, aka the content piece of content strategy.

Describe your work style in five words.
"But what happens after that?" (Aka the strategy piece of content strategy)

What are you favorite kinds of projects to tackle?
Any project where the client is genuinely interested in the outcome. It can feel uninspiring to write "Tips for Being a Great CEO" if the CEO is counting on you to make everything up. Being able to take a client's idea (that they really care about), translate it, and compose it in a way that gets them excited is the most satisfying type of project. It's great to get in those grooves of working together once you've been with the client for awhile.

What’s your proudest moment at work?
I'm not good at taking compliments at work. As someone in the arts world, getting a salaried paycheck every 2 weeks for doing something I enjoy is a proud moment.

What makes you the most excited to be at The Key?
Being with an incredibly smart, diverse, energetic team that also happens to be all women... for now.

Lightning Round:

Favorite office snack?
Salt + Pepper Triscuits

Badass female role model?
My mom.

Power song?
Tie between "Dancing on my own" by Robyn and "CC" by Sega Bodega + Shygirl

Redvines or Twizzlers? (To settle the office debate once and for all)
Redvines. Better texture
