Tell us a little bit about your background before joining The Key team.
I was born and raised in Southern California, where I was a little nerd who never went outside despite the beach being a 10 minute drive away. I then ran off to Maine to study at Bates College. There, I double majored in English, with a concentration in creative writing, and Environmental Studies, with a focus on how human culture and the environment affect one another. In my senior year, I completed two theses: a book of poetry, and a documentary about the water rights court case Penobscot Nation v. Mills. Maine was too cold, so right after graduation I booked it back to California to get a Masters in Film and Television Production at University of Southern California, where I focused on writing and directing. But Los Angeles was too hot, so now I’m in the Bay Area, with its sexy bridges, perfect gardening weather, and kick-ass PR ladies.
Describe your work style in five words.
Quick, Reliable, Clever, Inquisitive, Flexible.
What are you favorite kinds of projects to tackle?
My favorite projects are the ones where my playfulness comes into...play. For example, I recently created a pitch that included a handful of Game of Thrones gifs. Additionally, I love any work that has to do with branding, storytelling or social media.
What’s your proudest moment at work?
My name idea for rebranding a new public-facing job title was used for a scooter company. It was a small, maybe insignificant moment to everyone else on the team, but now every time I see the title used in articles, I get a dopamine rush.
What makes you the most excited to be at The Key?
Definitely first and foremost the people I work with, who are truly some of the best folks I have ever spent time with. In addition to the fantastic work environment, the variety of work I get to do daily makes me excited to be at The Key. Not only do we have a good variety of clients, but the day-to-day work is an excellent combination of fast paced assignments, slow-and-steady input, quick and easy tasks, and long-term investments. It’s a very healthy, happy space to be in, with a vibe that makes me feel as if I can grow here exponentially, both as a professional and as a human being because of the good work-life balance.
Favorite office snack?
Vegan jerky and salt and vinegar chips (I have access to the online cart where we place our snack orders, and I have not wielded that power in an entirely egalitarian manner…)
Badass female role model?
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Audre Lorde, Sheryl Strayed, Rebecca Solnit, Virginia Woolf.
Digital Witness by St. Vincent
Favorite rockstar journalist?
Joan Didion, Rachel Carson, Nora Ephron.
Jughead Jones from Riverdale.
