Tell us a little bit about your background before joining The Key team.
I was born and raised in a small beach town right next to Santa Barbara, California. After years of sunshine and swimming in the ocean, I moved up to the Bay Area to get a degree in Media Studies at UC Berkeley. Post-grad I decided I loved the San Francisco area too much to leave, so I chose to stick around to search for jobs in the city. Prior to working at The Key, I was never too confident about what I wanted to start a career in, but knew that I enjoyed reading, writing, and consuming media. Turns out, public relations was the perfect fit for me because it allows me to be strategic, creative, and tell some amazing stories.
Describe your work style in five words.
Driven, Organized, Reliable, Adaptive, Inquisitive
What are you favorite kinds of projects to tackle?
I love seeing a story unfold from start to finish, and my favorite projects are ones that allow me to be a part of every step of this process. From doing research, to writing a pitch, to seeing an article get posted, it’s always rewarding to see an idea come to life. Additionally, I love anything that involves thinking of clever puns!
What’s your proudest moment at work?
Definitely seeing something that i’ve worked on get published. A while back I wrote a fun pitch for National String Cheese Day about whether you should bite or peel string cheese (peel, duh!), and it was picked up by a big publication. It wasn’t anything crazy, but i’ll never forget how excited I was to see that article! Also, because I am a relatively new member to both the working and PR world, it’s always a proud moment when I learn anything new.
What makes you the most excited to be at The Key?
I love the different hats that I get to wear at work. We have a variety of clients in different industries so we are always tackling projects that require using multiple lenses and looking at things from multiple angles. For example, a typical work day for me may require thinking of fun headlines about a shopping app, researching events for autonomous vehicles, and writing about impact investing. Each day is different and it keeps things interesting! On top of loving the work itself, I am so lucky to get to work with some truly amazing people at an agency that allows me to maintain a healthy work-life balance #workgoals. Above all, I am excited to continue to grow both personally and professionally with The Key!
