Meet Kalyn!

Tell us a little bit about your background before joining The Key team.

I graduated from Wake Forest University in May with a double major in Anthropology and Communication and a minor in Spanish. Before graduation, I worked as a peer consultant in the Speaking Center, designed flyers and other graphics as a member of the University Center's student marketing team, and served as an ambassador to the Intercultural Center. You could also occasionally catch me playing the piano on the quad and around campus. All of those different skills (excluding the piano) and interests led me to The Key!

Describe your work style in five words.

No time like the present!

What are your favorite kinds of projects to tackle?

Head (learning) and heart (social impact). I like projects that give me the opportunity to develop a deeper knowledge about a subject and hopefully widen my worldview. I'm also invested in projects that have a positive impact on communities and help bridge gaps.

What’s your proudest moment at work (here or elsewhere)?

I collect small victories like a kid collects rocks. They can be easy to step over and get kicked to the side in our mad dash to victory, but it's nice to keep them in your pocket and pull them out when you need to be reminded of something good. I have a variety of rocks: learning the route from 16th & Mission to the office, finding the perfect font for a flyer, playing a song and having someone ask me to play it again.

What makes you the most excited to be at The Key?

I'm excited to have the opportunity to work with, learn from, and be encouraged by a group of incredible women. The team is a combination of different strengths, personalities, and interests so I'm always learning. It's a unique environment and I'm happy to be here!

Lightning Round!
