LendingClub Survey Finds One-Third of Americans Making $250,000 Live Paycheck-to-Paycheck

Jun 9, 2022

On June 1st, our client LendingClub launched its 10th paycheck-to-paycheck report in partnership with PYMNTS.

After introducing data from their 9th report – focusing on earners making $100K+ – to Bloomberg News US Economy Editor Alex Tanzi, we collaborated to develop a report focused on an even higher cohort - those earning more than $250K annually.

The team uncovered an extremely shocking finding: 1/3 of Americans who earn more than a quarter of a million dollars are living paycheck-to-paycheck.With the goal of continuing to position LendingClub as a thought leader in U.S. macroeconomic trends and the consumer financial health, the report unlocked incredible opportunities including:

-- Increased visibility with top tier press
-- Deepened relationships with influential reporters
-- Further establishing LendingClub as having the pulse on American consumers

Overall, the story not only helped the team more than double its coverage week over week, but the report and Tanzi’s article sparked one of the most heated threads on (a very heated) week of Internet discourse. Big congratulations to LendingClub, the PYMNTS team, and Alex Tanzi for striking a chord with millions of Americans.
